Growing Edible Mushrooms at Home

Materials Needed:

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare Your Substrate:

Soak your substrate in hot water to pasteurize it, killing off any unwanted microbes. Let it cool before use.

2. Inoculate the Substrate with Mushroom Spawn:

Mix the mushroom spawn with the prepared substrate in clean containers or mushroom grow bags.

3. Maintain Humidity:

Place the containers in a dark, humid area. Mist the substrate daily using a mist bottle to keep humidity levels high.

4. Monitor Growth:

Check for mycelium growth, which looks like white thread-like structures. After a few weeks, mushrooms should start forming.

5. Harvesting:

Once the mushrooms have fully grown, harvest them by twisting gently or cutting them at the base.
